Through the land planning looking glass

A local organization- Valley Advocates for Responsible Development-hosts the Annual Mad Hatter Fundraiser. Partygoers are encouraged to wear a themed hat and compete for a prize. Get ready--there is lots of backstory with this blog post.

Being small and rural, the county we live in certainly has some financial issues, which has caused some concern for finishing the construction of our new courthouse. Some discussions have proffered that there is no money left over for landscaping. This is just one example of conversations we have over beers at The Wolf.

My solution: A Corporate Sponsored Courthouse!

My skill with the glue gun paid off- I won the 'Smart Growth' category!!!

Jen and Randy with their Harmonious Hats. Randy won in the 'Most Inspired' category with his 'Come Together Handshake' hat. A comment on recent politics here and across the country. It was an amazing hat!

Somehow, Maz eluded the camera, but he was one of five contestants in the 'Smart Growth' category with his 'Teton Valley 2028' hat. Check out DIA and the subways stations!

'Smart Growth' contestant 'Baby-Boom/Special Delivery' hat ala Rusty.

'Smart Growth' contestant '9-4-12-B' ala Anna. This is the local night sky ordinance that says don't mess up the view of the stars with your obnoxious, bright exterior lights. Anna wore this wooden house on her head with a hugely bright headlamp in it. Insert hugely bright giggle here.

Anna- Idaho Election results. She wore the 3 blue Idaho counties- placed geographically accurate- on her red sweater. Hilarious! Pictured here with local fishing guide, Nick.

When planning your trip to Driggs, plan to attend the VARD Mad Hatter!
