Round and round trip

I knew it would be a little cuckoo brains when I got back from Chicago and turning around a couple days later for a trip to Boston, but I was determined to Project and enjoy the last days of summer weather in Driggs.

Maz built his first set of stairs on the west side of the house.

This will soon be known as the 'Wood Door' for the next nine months, but right now, it's the 'Sunset Stoop'.

Beautiful construction!

We also wanted to get the front porch stained and protected for the next season, so I busted out the knee pads and hand sander. (Thanks Dad for a GREAT tool!)

Ready for snowdrifts.

The next blog posts will be peppered with photos of Boston and New Hampshire, friends, in-laws, out-laws and new kitty cats. Stay tuned!

Lunch Break

I love to visit our small Farmer's Market in Driggs-a Friday community gathering with a handful of booths full of quality fruits, vegetable, pottery, and handmade goods.

Last week I picked out my standard canteloupe, tomatoes, cukes and radishes. On my way out, I stopped by the Snowdrift booth stacked full of bursting bags of greens. Forksaking safe romaine, I went for 'Braising Mix' and asked the seller how to prepare them.

'They are really young and tender, so a quick saute with olive oil or in a salad-they'll be delicious!'

No lies here! My lunch today was a yummy Greens Quesadilla with Corn Salad.

2 -3 cups of braising greens (mustard greens, kale, italian dandelion, swiss chard)
butter
salt and pepper

Heat butter in a saute pan until very hot.
Add the greens and stir until bright green and warm, less than 5 minutes.
Salt and pepper the greens to your liking.

Meanwhile, heat 2 corn or flour tortillas in the oven or microwave. 1 tortilla has a layer of swiss cheese. Heat until melted.

Add the greens to the cheese-tilla and top with the other tortilla. Serve with a side of whatever happens to be in your fridge. Enjoy and repeat as necessary.

Visitors from the East

I am so thankful for a wonderful visit from Mom, Dad, Alison, Joe and Lucy. Most people thought I was crazy (including the Rices and Rice-Malins) to have 5 guests from 3.5 years old to 71.5 years young all at the same time, but I was excited for everyone's arrival.

The highlights:
Horse rides compliments of my friend Melissa.

A custom made puzzle of Driggs in the form of a topographic map. It made my brain hurt real bad, so it must be a good one. (For those of you who don't know, Jay and I's wedding invitation featured a topographic map.) Alison said she got it at signals.com. I want one for every place I've lived!

Local sightseeing.

Teton Valley.

The Spud Drive-In.

Mesa Falls.

Wind Cave.

The Wolf.

Playground visits.

We hardly made it a dent in the Driggs Summer To-do List, so I am already looking forward to planning the next visit! Thanks to my great fam for trekking across the country (some in tiny planes) to visit Jay and I.

To enjoy my sister's take on the trip, visit L is for Latte.
